Construction Notice-Overlay Project on Central Avenue and Chester Drive

Construction Underway Until June 21, 2019

Posted: May 15, 2019
Location: Tracy, Calif.

Construction has begun on an overlay project on Central Avenue (between Tracy Blvd. and Silkwood Ln.) and Chester Drive (between Lowell Ave. and Duncan Dr.) in Tracy. The project consists of crack filling, pavement and sidewalk repairs, asphalt grinding and overlays, installation of loops and restriping.  In an effort to minimize traffic impacts to local residents, schools, businesses and commuters, the construction is scheduled to take place between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3 PM.  This project is expected to be complete by June 21, 2019 (subject to weather and unforeseen issues).

“The Engineering Division is very excited about this crucial community-enhancing project,” stated Senior Civil Engineer Paul Verma.  “Once complete, this project will deliver much-needed quality of life improvements for our community,” said Senior Civil Engineer, Paul Verma.

What to Expect

During this construction, public safety is the top priority. Temporary lane closures will be inevitable at times, however, crews will work to minimize delays and accommodate our residents, businesses and the general public in the area.  Local residents and business owners who may be affected have been notified of this work in advance and “no parking signs” are being posted 72 hours prior to construction activities.  Please plan ahead for trips, use alternate routes when possible and use caution in the area: “Slow for the Cone Zone.”

We apologize for the temporary inconveniences this construction may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to improve our roadways and keep Tracy beautiful.
