Emergency Construction Notice -- Grant Line Road, Between Lammers & Byron Roads in Tracy

Flagged Traffic for Emergency Paving May 15th 9 AM – 2 PM Recycled Water Project Nighttime Closure Resumes May 16-22

Posted: May 15, 2019
Location: Tracy, Calif.

On Monday May 13, 2019, nighttime construction began to install piping for recycled water on Grant Line Road, between Lammers and Byron Roads in Tracy.  Due to the unexpected change in weather conditions (the possibility of rain), some asphalt paving work must be done tomorrow, May 15, 2019, between the hours of 9 AM and 2 PM.  This is being done on an emergency basis to address the traffic safety issues during the forecasted rains.

During this emergency construction, public safety is the top priority.  To minimize delays, flaggers will be facilitating the flow of traffic on this segment of Grant Line Road in both directions during the five hours that this emergency daytime construction is taking place.  Access to residences and properties will be maintained at all times.  Local residents and the traveling public should anticipate extra delays between the hours of 9 AM and 2 PM on May 15, 2019.

For the safety of construction workers and for traffic circulation, please consider using alternate routes.  A map of the nighttime road closure detour route has been included for your convenience.  This segment of Grant Line Road will resume the original the nighttime-only road closure schedule of 9:30 PM to 4:30 AM when this emergency daytime paving is complete.

We apologize for this unexpected addition to the planned nighttime construction schedule and appreciate your patience.

Construction for this project is being completed in multiple phases, with work planned on a street segment-by-segment basis.  This is being done to avoid cumulative delays, longer detours and to minimize inconvenience to our community.  Additional construction notices will be issued on a timely basis as this project progresses until completion, which is scheduled for early 2020.

The City of Tracy Recycled Water Master Plan outlines construction of recycled water infrastructure throughout the City, with major transmission lines running from the Wastewater Treatment Plant to

Lammers Road, south of Eleventh Street, via Grant Line and Byron Roads.  The recycled water will

serve the irrigation needs of street medians, right-of-way landscaping, City parks and Tracy sports fields (including Legacy Fields, Plasencia Fields and the Tracy Sports Complex).  The recycled water will also serve the irrigation needs of onsite landscaping in commercial and industrial facilities in the Tracy community.  In the future, recycled water may also attract major economic development projects and serve the needs of new developments within the City’s General Plan area.  This project improves Tracy’s water reliability and sustainability of water resources.  Additional information about the Recycled Water Project can be found on the City of Tracy website: https://www.ci.tracy.ca.us/?navid=6344.
