UFMP Outreach Meeting

Posted: Apr 23, 2019

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 23, 2019

City of Tracy Holds a Community Outreach Meeting for the Development of an Urban Forestry Management Plan (UFMP)

Tracy, Calif. – The City of Tracy, through the Public Works Department, received funding from CalFire and the California Climate Investment grant to create an Urban Forestry Management Plan (UFMP). Residents are invited to provide their input regarding the UFMP and the City’s urban forest at a community meeting on May 1, 2019 at the Tracy Transit Station, 50 E 6th St from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

The UFMP will help formalize the City’s commitment to the long-term planning and care of the community’s urban forest, provide guidance on developing related ordinances, and provide a roadmap for best management practices guiding the City’s role in assuring a healthy and growing tree canopy within Tracy.  Davey Resource Group (the City’s consultant on the project) and City staff will give a short presentation regarding the Urban Forestry Management Plan, provide data and statistics on the City’s current urban forest, and describe what a healthy urban forest looks like.  At the conclusion of the presentation, residents will be asked for input and their thoughts on the future of Tracy’s urban forest.  This input is vital to a successful and sustainable plan.

Those interested in providing input on the Plan are encouraged to attend this meeting.  Those who are unable to attend the meeting will have the opportunity for input through a public survey that will be release in early-May.
