Temporary Traffic Signal Activation at Intersection of South Lammers and West Grant Line Road In Advance of Permanent Traffic Signal

Posted: Apr 17, 2019

Tracy, Calif. - Beginning Thursday, May 2nd at 9 am, drivers will notice changes in the area of South Lammers and West Grant Line Road as crews install and activate a temporary traffic signal at the intersection before construction of a permanent signal begins.

The Southwinds Church on Middlefield Road in Tracy recently underwent a facility expansion.    As part of the Environmental Impact Study that was conducted during their development application process, it was determined that the intersection of West Grant Line Road at South Lammers Road requires a traffic signal to help facilitate the anticipated increase of traffic to and from the newly-renovated facility.  Since final design and procurement of the permanent signal is still underway, a temporary traffic signal is being installed and activated at the intersection as a short-term solution.

The temporary traffic signal will be activated at the intersection on May 2nd.   The signal will be installed in trailers and the vehicular traffic will be detected using video cameras.  The signal timing will ensure that all legs of the intersection are served according to traffic demand from all directions. The signal will be in “flash” mode during the set-up process, but will be in full operation immediately following with the normalsequence of red, yellow, and green indications.  The set-up/activation process for the temporary signal is expected to take three to eight hours. The portable signal is anticipated to be in place for the next few months, until the permanent signal poles are installed.

Reader boards have been placed onsite notifying drivers who frequent the area of the upcoming change.  Commuters using this intersection should expect some delays during the first few days following the installation and activation of the temporary traffic signal.  The City is working diligently to minimize any adverse impacts due to this change in traffic control and will be monitoring the area closely.  We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your patience, compliance with all traffic laws and use of caution in the area.
