Tracy Police Officers Association (TPOA) Declares Impasse over Contract Negotiations with the City of Tracy

On August 6, 2018 the Tracy Police Officers Association (TPOA) declared an impasse in contract negotiations with the City of Tracy. The City and TPOA representatives were attempting to negotiate a new three-year successor contract to replace the contract that expired on June 30, 2018.

The City has finalized three-year agreements with its Department Heads, Confidential Managers, Mid-Managers, Police Management, Teamsters, and the Tracy Firefighters Association.

The City has presented the TPOA with a substantial offer that is similar to the agreements reached with the other City bargaining units, and will achieve parity with other local law enforcement agencies. An overview of the offer includes:

“We have a lot of respect for our police officers and have offered a fair contract. We are disappointed that the TPOA rejected the City’s proposal,” stated City Manager, Randall Bradley. “We are negotiating in good faith, and are offering generous raises that are unseen in many local and regional jurisdictions. I’m still hopeful that we can come to an agreement while protecting the best interest of the City of Tracy.”

A state-level mediator has been called upon to aid both parties in overcoming the impasse.
