City of Tracy to Launch Corral Hollow Road Widening and Sewer Upgrade Project

Construction activities to commence on May 31, 2017

Posted: Feb 15, 2017
Location: Tracy, Calif.

In order to relieve traffic congestion on one of Tracy’s major thoroughfares, the City of Tracy will be widening a stretch Corral Hollow Road between Grant Line Road and Byron Road, from four lanes to six lanes starting this May. The project also includes an upgrade of existing sanitary sewer pipelines between Middlefield Drive and I-205.

One additional lane in each direction will be added in the project area by reducing the median island width from 40-feet to 18-feet. At completion, this project will help improve traffic along Corral Hollow Road and increase sewer collection system capacity. The project also includes modifying the intersection at Foothill Ranch Drive and Corral Hollow Road, which will permanently limit the eastbound left turning traffic from Foothill Ranch Drive onto northbound Corral Hollow Road. This improvement will enhance traffic safety at that intersection.

To minimize traffic impacts to residents, businesses and nearby schools, the major components of the project will be constructed during Tracy Unified School District’s 2017 summer academic break. During construction, Corral Hollow Road will have one lane of traffic in each direction.

Construction of the Sewer Line upgrades is expected to continue into August 2017, at which time Corral Hollow Road will have two Lanes of traffic in each direction. This effort will help minimize traffic impacts on this corridor.

“The Engineering Division is very excited about this crucial community enhancing project. Once complete, this project will deliver much needed improvements to the quality of life for Tracy motorists and sewer customers,” stated City Engineer, Robert Armijo. “We’d also like to encourage everyone to plan ahead for their trips and to be safe during the construction; remember to ‘Slow for the Cone Zone.’”

City staff will be engaging in community outreach activities beginning in March to inform residents, businesses and visitors about the project, anticipated traffic impacts, alternate routes, project benefits, and to provide an opportunity for questions and feedback.

The City of Tracy will advertise its bid notice for the project on February 17, 2017 on the City of Tracy website at: www.thinkinsidethetriangle.com. The budgeted $9.2-million project is being funded through developer contributions.
