Oxnard Appoints Tracy Assistant City Manager

Posted: Apr 9, 2015
Location: Tracy, Calif.

Tracy Assistant City Manager, Maria A. Hurtado, has announced her departure from the City of Tracy after accepting the position of Assistant City Manager for the City of Oxnard, California.  Ms. Hurtado carries over 18 years of municipal management experience, including eight years with the City of Tracy as the Assistant City Manager and Interim City Manager.
“It has been an honor serving the Tracy community,” stated Ms. Hurtado. “While my departure is bittersweet, I feel confident that the Tracy City Council, City staff and the community will continue to work effectively to move Tracy forward. I am truly grateful for this experience.”
Ms. Hurtado brings to the City of Oxnard extensive experience in leading numerous inter-departmental teams in the development of public policy initiatives. She was instrumental in the development and oversight of multimillion dollar capital and operating budgets, including the “right-sizing” of Tracy’s operations in response to the economic downturn.
“I know that Maria is exceptionally qualified for this position and I am confident she will be a great asset to the Oxnard community,” stated Oxnard City Manager, Greg Nyhoff. “She brings with her a mix of strategic planning, community outreach, engagement, organizational development and general municipal administration. Maria has a strong belief in good government and is passionate about her career in public service.”
Ms. Hurtado currently serves on the board of Directors of the International Hispanic Network (IHN) and Women Leading Government (WLG) and is a member of the International City Manager’s Association (ICMA), Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC), and is a Madrina for the IHN Padrinos/Madrinas Coaching Program. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California Santa Cruz in Sociology; and a Master’s degree from San Jose State University in Social Work (M.S.W.).
Ms. Hurtado will begin her duties as the Assistant City Manager of Oxnard on May 18, 2015.
