Junior Giants Coaches Needed

Posted: Apr 12, 2011

(TRACY, CA) –The City of Tracy Parks and Community Services Department is seeking volunteers to coach the 2011 Junior Giants baseball season. Volunteer coaches experience the joy of teaching youth ages 4-13 the fundamentals of baseball, and character development like teamwork, confidence and leadership. Coaches must be over the age of 18 and do not need previous coaching experience. Each Junior Giants coach will receive training which may include a Coaches Clinic at AT&T Park lead by a former pro athlete. The training process prepares coaches to teach baseball related skills, as well as other youth sports related issues.

The Junior Giants is a free non-competitive program sponsored by the Giants Community Fund, Bank of America and local municipalities. This program’s continued success relies heavily on community volunteers as coaches and mentors.

Coaches typically devote 2-3 hours a week during the July 5th - August 10th season. This time includes 1 practice and 1 game each week during the season.

Make a difference in your community today and instill a love of baseball, fitness and teamwork! Future coaches or and inquiries should call Riannon Thomas at (209) 831- 6207.
