PG&E to Conduct Tree Work in Tracy That Will Protect Public Safety

Community Planting with the City of Tracy Planned in Honor of Arbor Day in April

Posted: Mar 4, 2014

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) soon will begin pruning and removing trees under electric transmission lines to ensure safety and electric reliability for its customers in Tracy.

PG&E Vegetation Management contract crews will prune 18 trees and remove several dozen trees in and around high voltage electric transmission lines beginning on March 13 in order to prevent tree limbs from coming into contact with power lines.
The project will be conducted in the area of Parkside Drive and the intersection of Third and Jaeger Streets and south of Tracy Boulevard near Whispering Winds Drive. The work, which is expected to take approximately five days to complete, is being conducted in coordination with the City of Tracy.
Tree limbs or branches have been known to cause extensive power outages and public safety risks including fires and injuries when they come into contact with power lines.
PG&E recognizes the many benefits trees bring to the local landscape and is partnering with the City of Tracy to host a volunteer tree-planting event to celebrate Arbor Day Saturday, April 26. The event location and time will be announced at a later date. To sign up or for more information about the event, contact the City of Tracy Public Works Department at (209) 831-6300.
If customers have questions or would like additional information on the project, they are asked to contact David Carruth, PG&E Vegetation Management Program Manager, at (530) 227-0942. Calls will be returned within 48 hours during the business week. For more information about PG&E’s vegetation management program, visit www.pge.com/trees
