Press Release

INTERSECTION OF MACARTHUR DRIVE AND DELTA AVENUE TO BE CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC FOR TRACY EFFLUENT PIPELINE PROJECT

Detours will be in place and access to private properties and local businesses will be maintained during construction: April 19 through May 21.

Posted: Apr 12, 2021
Location: Tracy, Ca

The intersection of MacArthur Drive and Delta Avenue will be closed to through traffic in both directions beginning April 19 until May 21, 2021 (subject to no unforeseen conditions or delays) for the installation of a new pipeline as part of the City’s Effluent Outfall Pipeline Project. As a result, limited access to properties and residences between Canal Boulevard and the closed intersection will be provided on MacArthur Drive. Similarly, only limited access to properties and residences on Delta Avenue between Tom Paine Avenue and the closed intersection will be provided. Detours will be in place (please see map below) to assist with traffic circulation in the area, and access to private properties and businesses in the area will be maintained.

This project involves the installation of a new 42-inch effluent pipeline from the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Old River. This new pipeline will replace the existing 33-inch deteriorated asbestos cement effluent pipeline. To minimize the impacts to our community, construction is being completed on a street segment-by-segment basis to avoid cumulative delays and longer detours.  Expect additional updates, media releases and notifications to be provided on a future construction road closures for this project along Delta Avenue.

What to Expect

During construction, public safety remains a top priority. Access to private properties and businesses on Delta Avenue and MacArthur Drive, north of Canal Boulevard, will be maintained through detours along Tom Paine Avenue and Canal Boulevard during construction, as noted above. Access to local traffic on this segment of MacArthur Drive and Delta Avenue will be provided from the intersections of MacArthur Drive/Canal Road and Delta/Tom Paine Avenues. Residents, businesses and the traveling public should anticipate delays during construction, plan trips accordingly and follow the detours for optimal traffic circulation.  We apologize for the inconvenience as we work quickly and safely to make these community improvements - your patience and understanding is appreciated!
