Press Release

NORTH MACARTHUR DRIVE TO BE CLOSED AT THE RAILROAD CROSSING SOUTH OF GRANT LINE ROAD BEGINNING TOMORROW, DECEMBER 1ST

Detour will be in place, motorists should anticipate delays and plan travel routes accordingly.

Posted: Nov 30, 2020
Location: Tracy, Calif.

Union Pacific Railroad has notified the City of Tracy that they will be decommissioning and retiring the railroad at the crossing on N. MacArthur Drive south of Grant Line Road.  The much-needed work is long overdue, as the railroad crossing is no longer in service and the roadway has separated from the actual crossing, making for a very rough ride over the railroad tracks for all types of vehicles.  The scheduled work is to begin at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, December 1st, with an estimated completion of one week, weather-permitting.

To minimize the traffic delays and inconvenience to the residents, businesses, commercial business truck traffic and other motorists in the area, the contractor has message boards up notifying the public of the closure and a detour will be in place.  Due to high volumes of traffic at this particular location, as this area heavily traveled, motorists should anticipate significant delays and are encouraged to find alternate routes, if at all possible.  Please use caution in the area and “Slow for the Cone Zone,” as traffic fines are doubled in construction zones.
