Tracy Police Department Confiscates Illegal Fireworks

Posted: Jun 26, 2020

138 lbs of Illegal Fireworks Confiscated

Tracy, Calif. – On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, investigators with the Tracy Police Department arrested a Tracy resident for selling aerial fireworks, which are illegal in California. Investigators confiscated approximately 138 lbs. of illegal fireworks as part of this one investigation.

These types of fireworks are a danger to those who use them and present a very real threat of causing a fire. In San Joaquin County, there is a Task Force lead by the District Attorney’s Office whose purpose it is to prosecute the use and sale of illegal fireworks.
Aerial fireworks and those that explode can bring distress to those who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. In addition, pets such as dogs and cats often suffer.

The Tracy Police Department wants everyone to enjoy the Independence Day Holiday in a safe and legal manner. We thank you for your support and cooperation in this effort.

To report illegal use of fireworks please call our non-emergency number at 209-831-6550.
