City of Tracy Virtual Town Hall Meeting

A Conversation on Racial Injustice, Policing, and our Youth

The City of Tracy will bring together community leaders on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 6:00pm for the first in a series of Virtual Town Hall meetings to discuss race, equity, and policing. The Virtual Town Hall titled, “A Conversation on Racial Injustice, Policing and our Youth” will provide an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns and perspectives, and will feature the following panelists:

• Robert Bivens, Stockton NAACP President
• Shaelyn Hawkins, Community Organizer
• Rev. Dr. Kevin W. James, New Creation Bible Fellowship & President of the California African American Fellowship of the Southern Baptist Convention
• Yolande Knight, Tracy African American Association (TAAA) President
• Sekou Millington, City of Tracy Police Chief
• Dr. Rob Pecot, Tracy Unified School District, Director of Student Services
• Manuel Zapata, Central Valley Community Organizer

“In the wake of recent events, it’s important that we have an open dialogue with community leaders and the public at-large on issues centered on racism and policing,” stated Tracy Police Chief, Sekou Millington. “We need to hear different perspectives on these challenging topics, and collectively find ways to address them as a community.”

The Virtual Town Hall will be moderated by Lynda and Eric Hawkins of WorkVine209. The event will be streamed live on WebEx, the City of Tracy Facebook page, on Comcast Channel 26 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. The public may participate in the panel discussion using WebEx at: https://cityoftracyevents.webex.com (Event Number: 126 367 7160 and Event Password: tracy). Participants can submit questions or comments via the chat feature of WebEx.
