Press Release

Downtown Tracy Arts Week and Decorated Kites Display: April 3-10, 2020

Presented by the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts and the Tracy Arts Commission

Posted: Mar 3, 2020
Location: Tracy, Calif.

The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, together the Tracy Arts Commission, is proud to present Downtown Tracy Arts Week beginning Friday, April 3 through Friday, April 10, 2020.  During Downtown Tracy Arts Week, there will be a variety of art and cultural events and activities taking place at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, in Downtown Tracy outdoor spaces and inside local downtown businesses.

The goal of Downtown Tracy Arts Week is to encourage partnerships between artists, art organizations, businesses and our community throughout the Downtown District by offering a weeklong presentation of activities, performances, exhibits and events. Such components may include paint nights, demonstrations, live music, workshops, pop-up shops and interactive activities.

April is also National Kite Month! To celebrate and kick off the activities for Downtown Tracy Arts Week, the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts would like to see the community decorate their “best and most creative” kite. The decorated kites will be on display at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts during Downtown Arts Week. The best part is that the Grand will provide the kites for decorating to the first 120 registrants!  Kites can be decorated by an individual or as a group.  As always, creativity is encouraged!

For those who are interested in participating in this fun event, please complete a registration form online or in-person at the Leona Darr Willis Box Office.  The registration deadline is March 9 for this free activity and kites will be available for pickup at the Leona Darr Willis Box Office beginning on March 9 at 9 AM. The decorated kites must be submitted to the Grand by March 30 at 5 PM to ensure inclusion in the kite show.  Please note that only Grand Theatre-issued kites will be accepted for display. Kites will be available for return pick-up April 20-23, 2020.

For a complete listing of all activities, dates and times, please visit www.atthegrand.org and click on “Downtown Tracy Arts Week.”

Free parking is available on nearby streets, the public lot located at 6th Street and Central Avenue and at the 9th Street parking lot.

ABOUT THE CITY OF TRACY

Tracy is centered in a triangle formed by major interstates I-205 to the North, I-580 to the west and I-5 to the east. A collaboration of effort from our elected officials, employees and citizens means Tracy is a clean and safe community where opportunity, growth, and success prosper. We invite you to come for a visit, open your business, and settle down to raise a family in Tracy. Take a look “Inside the Triangle.” You’ll like our pace, and you’ll love the place!
