Suspected Juvenile Gang Member Arrested for Attempted Homicide

Arrest of 17 year for Attempted Homicide from June, 2019

Posted: Feb 13, 2020
Location: Tracy, Calif.

On June 19th, 2019, there was a shooting in the 300 block of N. West St. in Tracy. In the shooting, a single victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Over the next several months, a Tracy Police Detective was able to identify a suspect and recently gathered enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for the charges of attempted homicide, shooting into an inhabited dwelling, and gang enhancements.
On February 13th, 2020, at about 12:30 PM, Tracy Police saw the suspect get into a vehicle as a passenger and began following it. A marked police unit attempted to stop the vehicle and the suspect, a 17-year-old male from Tracy, fled on foot in the area of Mae Avenue and Beverly Place. A perimeter was quickly established and the Tracy Police SWAT Team responded to conduct a search of the area.  During the search, the suspect was located and arrested in the backyard of a residence in the 200 block of E. Carlton Way. A handgun was also recovered.
The 17-year-old male will be booked into the San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall for the attempted homicide warrant as well as being in possession of a handgun
