Tracy Community Workshop: Downtown Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Project

Help plan for the future of the greater downtown and surrounding areas at the Downtown TOD Community Workshop!

Posted: Nov 6, 2019
Location: Tracy, Calif.

The City of Tracy will host a community workshop for the Downtown Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Project 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Thursday, November 14 in Conference Room 203, which is located on the second floor of Tracy City Hall (333 Civic Center Plaza).

The Downtown TOD Project is a long-range planning and urban design study that is evaluating how the introduction of commuter rail service, via Tri-Valley Regional Rail Authority’s planned Valley Link line, will impact development opportunities in and around the greater Downtown Tracy and surrounding areas. These so-called transit-development opportunities include the prospect of additional jobs and housing within walking and biking distance of the transit station. In turn, the presence of additional employees and residents can increase the demand for shopping, restaurants, and services, making Downtown Tracy an even more vibrant destination within the city and the region. The project will identify the community’s vision and preferred concept for transit-oriented development in the project area, provide conceptual designs for key opportunity sites and explore approaches to implement and fund the development concept.

Residents and community members are invited to attend the workshop to learn about the project and discuss and share input on the vision and their preferences for transit-oriented development and circulation improvements in the greater Downtown and surrounding areas. Individuals who are unable to attend the workshop may complete an online survey that will be hosted on the City of Tracy’s website, www.cityoftracy.org, from November 14 through December 2, 2019.

This effort began in August and is expected to be completed by Spring of 2020. The project will include additional participation opportunities at upcoming City Council and Planning Commission meetings.

For additional information on the workshop and/or project, please contact Scott Claar, Senior Planner with City of Tracy Development Service Department by phone: (209) 831-6429 or email: scott.claar@cityoftracy.org.

Tracy is centered in a triangle formed by major interstates I-205 to the North, I-580 to the west and I-5 to the east. A collaboration of effort from our elected officials, employees and citizens means Tracy is a clean and safe community where opportunity, growth, and success prosper. We invite you to come for a visit, open your business, and settle down to raise a family in Tracy. Take a look “Inside the Triangle.” You’ll like our pace, and you’ll love the place!
