City of Tracy Celebrates Back-To-School Month by Offering Free Bus Rides for Students in August

K-12 students with a student ID enjoy free rides on TRACER bus fixed routes.

Posted: Aug 7, 2019
Location: Tracy, Calif.

The City of Tracy is welcoming our students back to school by offering free fixed route bus rides to them on the TRACER Public Transit System during the month of August.  K-12 students with a student ID may ride free this month: Monday-Friday from 7 AM – 8 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM – 7 PM (bus service does not run on Sundays).

The City of Tracy offers free bus service to students every year during Back-to-School Month to provide them the opportunity to experience the ease of using public transportation in our community and discover how comfortable and convenient the TRACER Public Transit System can be.  The TRACER Fixed Route Service offers seven routes that connect riders to places like Downtown Tracy, Shops at Northgate Village, West Valley Mall, Walmart and most Tracy middle and high schools.  All TRACER buses are ADA accessible and equipped with bicycle racks for the convenience of our riders.

All members of our community are encouraged to familiarize themselves with our TRACER fixed route bus service, especially since recent improvements have been made to Routes A, B, C and G (formerly D Peak) for better transfer connections between fixed routes and timelier trips.  The service is simple to use, cost-effective, environmentally-friendly, and meets the travel needs of many of our residents.

Free bus rides on fixed routes are also offered to all members of the Tracy community on days the temperature in Tracy is forecasted to be 100 degrees or higher.  The Tracy Transit Center, located at 50 E. 6th Street, is a designated cooling zone that is available for residents who need to escape the summer heat and prevent heat-related illness.  The Transit Center hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8 AM – 7 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM – 6 PM.
