Mateo Bedolla, Council Member

  

A native of Tracy, Mateo Bedolla grew up framing homes and working in the construction industry since he was 17 years old. Mateo was educated at South/West Park Elementary, Williams Middle, Tracy High (2011), and California State University, East Bay (2015).

Mateo has volunteered for Brighter Christmas, FIX’D, Sikhs of Tracy, South Side Community Organization, Tracy Interfaith, Tracy Latin Athletic Club, Tracy Unified School District, Wreaths Across America, and St. Bernard’s Church.

In 2015, Mateo was hired as a Congressional Staffer for U.S. Congressman Jerry McNerney. “As a Congressional Staffer, I worked with Congressman McNerney to help constituents resolve their issues with Social Security and the Veterans Administration—securing money, benefits and military medals for Mountain House, Stockton, and Tracy residents.” Mateo was awarded the inaugural 40 under 40 Award by California State University, East Bay for his public service experience.

On July 20, 2020, Mateo Bedolla became a candidate for Tracy City Council-At Large. In a 3 month campaign and an 8 person race, Mateo was successful in the 2020 November 3 General Election becoming the youngest Council Member in the history of the City of Tracy.

As Council Member, Mateo has supported various policy initiatives including, Amenities (Legacy Fields, Aquatics Center, Recreational Center, Nature Park, New Skate Park); Legalizing Tracy’s first cannabis retailers, the Fiscal Sustainability Subcommittee and balanced budget efforts; Road Repair/Replacement, Infrastructure and Transportation projects (HWY 580 Bridge, Valley Link Rail); green renewable energy and updating Tracy’s Sustainability Action Plan; Inaugural Annual display of the Pan-African, Gold Star, Juneteenth, and LGBT Pride flag; and Reinvestment in Homelessness Solutions and Affordable Housing.

Council Member Bedolla serves on the following Committees: City/Schools Liaison Committee, Investment Review Committee, League of California Cities, Central Valley Division Executive Committee (Alternate), San Joaquin Council of Government’s One Voice – Washington, Special City Selection Committee, SJVAPCD, Tri-Valley-San Joaquin Valley Region Rail Authority, Valley Link (Alternate).
