Welcome Chief Janet Thiessen
On Monday, February 2nd, Janet M. Thiessen takes the reins as our Chief of Police. Chief Thiessen is a 28 year veteran of law enforcement having started her career in Vancouver, Washington rising to the rank of Deputy Chief before returning to her native Kansas as the Chief of Police for Olathe, Kansas in 2002. She holds a bachelor’s degree in administrative justice from the University of Portland and attended the FBI National Academy in 1997. Besides assuming the role of chief law enforcement officer for the City of Tracy, learning the names and faces of our 146 staff members, getting certified by POST and becoming knowledgeable about the City of Tracy and the surrounding areas, Chief Thiessen will also be relocating her family in the near future after she finds a suitable home for her husband and teenage children.
