Extreme Sports Day

Enjoy an epic day of freestyle sports and music at the 1st Annual Central Valley AM/JAM skateboard competition. The event hosted in Tracy is sponsored by the City of Tracy Parks and Community Services Department and Street Science Skate Shop. There will be a series of 4 competitions throughout the Central Valley, beginning in April in Riverbank, making its way to Tracy at the El Pescadero Skate Park on Saturday, May 16, 2009. Look for updates, registration information and required liability waivers by visiting www.centralvalleyamjam.com.

Age categories are as follows:

9 years old and under

10 - 12 years

13- 15 years

16 - 17 years

18 years and above

Location: El Pescadero Skate Park

Note: Helmets are required to participate in the skating competitions. Knee and elbow pads will not be provided.

Date: Saturday, 5/16

Cost: The cost is $15 per event or $45 to participate in all 4 events. Payments will not be accepted at the Parks and Community Services Department

 
 

S.A.F.E. (Students Adding Fun to Education)

That’s right... we want to be where the teens are. Monday through Friday, we are bringing the fun to the students at the Williams Middle School campus. The program contains tutoring, art elements, physical fitness, video games, and movie and popcorn every Friday from 4pm-6pm. Stop by the multi-purpose room and join us for some after school fun.

Location: Williams Middle School

Note: No program on 1/1, 1/2, 1/19, 2/9, 2/16, 4/10-4/17, 5/25.

Friday Night Chill Out

No need to go to the movies when you can relax at S.A.F.E. after school program with your friends and a bowl of popcorn. Every Friday, S.A.F.E. will play a new release movie for all to enjoy. Fees are waived for participants already enrolled in the S.A.F.E. Program.

Ski and Snowboard Trip

Join the fun! Once again we will be taking our annual ski trip to Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. Trip fee includes: transportation, lift ticket, ski or snowboard rental and lesson (optional). Please bring your own lunch or money to buy lunch. We will depart from the Parks & Community Services Department, 400 E. 10th Street, at 6a.m. sharp and will return to the same location at approximately 6p.m. All participants must be registered by a parent or guardian and have all paperwork completed prior to departure. The last day to register is January 23rd.PLEASE REMEMBER THERE IS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY.

City of Tracy Youth Advisory Commission (YAC)

If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved, stay informed, and help generate activities for your peers, the Youth Advisory Commission is the answer! The Youth

Advisory Commission (Y.A.C.) offers an opportunity to get involved in the community.

The City is recruiting new commission members on an ongoing basis. Responsibilities include: attending monthly meetings, attending teamwork trainings, volunteering, and participating in subcommittee planning groups. If you are interested in serving a one or two-year term, applications are available at the Parks and Community Services Department. For further information call 831-6200 or email yac@ci.tracy.ca.us. The deadline to submit an application is April 17, 2009.

 
 
Intergenerational Cooking Class

Take part in creating a fun day of interacting with the Youth Advisory Commissioners (Y.A.C.), teens, and seniors from Lolly Hansen Senior Center. Join us for fun activities and enjoying healthy snacks.

Dance

The City of Tracy will host a dance for middle school teens. Space is limited. You can purchase your ticket prior to each dance at the Parks and Community Services Department, S.A.F.E. after school program on Williams’s campus or online at www.ci.tracy.ca.us. Snacks and glow sticks will be available for sale. Appropriate dress and behavior is required to attend the dance. Register early to be a V.I.P. and receive a free slice of pizza, a free beverage, a free glowstick, and access to play Wii® and DDR®.

Note: Student ID is required. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Cost: $5 in advance, $10 at the door
