Business Licenses

BUSINESS LICENSE TAX AND FEES    

Annual fiscal year July 1st to June 30th           

Quarter licenses are July 1st , October 1st , January 1st ,  April 1st


Read below to determine what type of application you need. The most commonly used applications are available on the right. Please Note: You will need Adobe Reader to view these files. Other applications are available from the Finance and Administrative Services department. Fill out the entire application and mail it with your payment to City of Tracy Business Licensing, 333 Civic Center Plaza, Tracy, CA.  95376

Commercial & residential businesses (inside Tracy city limits) need a General Business per Employee type application. ($100.00 for the first owner; $20 for each additional owner or employee) pro-rated quarterly. If you have a commercial location; contact Fire Prevention at 831-6707 to schedule an inspection. Home based businesses are considered residential businesses. You need a Home Occupation Permit ($10.00) in addition to the General Business per Employee application listed above. You may not use a PO Box or mail box type box as your business location. Download a Home Occupation Permit on the right.

 

General contractors and sub-contractors not having a fixed place of business within Tracy city limit need a Contractor type application. You may purchase an annual license ($120.00) between July through September for maximum benefits.  Quarterly licenses ($40.00) may be purchased from July-September, October-December, January-March, and April-June. Do NOT purchase an annual license in January. You have an option to renew annually in June at our fiscal year end. Download a Contractor application on the right.

 

Outside businesses coming into Tracy city limits to conduct business need a General Business-Outside type application. The tax is the same as businesses inside Tracy, or a flat rate of $100.00 plus application/renewal fees. Download an application on the right.

 
Peddlers: The business tax for each peddler stand or vehicle shall be $25.00 per quarter plus applicable application or renewal fees. You may purchase additional quarters in advance, up to our fiscal year end, June 30th.  If your business is based from home, a home occupation permit is needed as well.  All door-to-door peddlers must also register with the Tracy Police Department.  Massage Therapists and/or similar professions.

Peddlers

All door-to door peddlers must also register with the Tracy Police department.

$60.00 for the first 6 units plus $5.00 for each additional unit plus $75.00 application fee
