Animal Services Unit
The Animal Services Unit works diligently to serve the public and animals of the City of Tracy in a professional and efficient manner with kindness and compassion. The staff is dedicated to providing education, protection, and the humane treatment of animals in order to insure a safe and healthy community and to promote the benefits of responsible pet ownership.
The Animal Services Unit (animal shelter) is located at 370 Arbor Road off MacArthur just north of Interstate 205 and is open Tuesday through Sunday - Noon to 5:30pm and closed all day Monday. They may be reached at 209-831-6364.

The staff of the Animal Services Unit is responsible for enforcing Tracy Municipal Codes relating to all animals and their well being within the Tracy city limits. The following services are offered:
Adoptions
Adoptions of stray or abandoned puppies/kittens and dogs/cats. Occasionally other animals such as rabbits or guinea pigs. Go to www.petharbor.com for a list of available animals.
Licensing
Licensing services and records for dogs within the Tracy city limits.
Investigations
Investigations of animal bites, animal abuse and animal cruelty.
Rabies Control
Includes investigation of bite cases and quarantine of suspect animals.
Lost/Found
Search, shelter and return of lost dogs and cats.
Stray Control
Pickup, shelter and adoption or euthanization of stray animals.
Volunteer
Volunteers provide help with operating the shelter and with special programs such as adoption fairs. Volunteers must be over the age of 18.
Adoption Fairs
Fairs are held at shopping centers and special events to adopt our pets and to educate the public about proper pet care.
Big Heart Fund
This fund provides veterinary care for injured strays. Various projects help to get donations for the fund.
