Smooth Ride on Grant Line Road Coming SoonPosted: Apr 28, 2011
After working through several issues related to underground utilities, the Grant Line street improvement project is closer to completion.
The underground utilities work has been completed and most of the sidewalk, curb, gutter and street lights have been installed. The contractor will complete the first overlay of new asphalt by the middle of May, giving the road a smooth surface for travel.
We want to inform residents of the remaining construction efforts they can expect, before all work on Grant line is completed in the middle of July.
After the first overly of new asphalt is completed in May, the contractor will begin work on the median cut-outs and landscaping. The lane next to the median will be closed temporarily leaving the outside lanes open.
Although this unique project to repair a street that was built more than forty years ago presented several challenges, particularly with unknown technical difficulties with the aged underground utilities, the completion of this project with new landscaped medians and street lighting will provide a new look for this side of the City for residents and others to enjoy.
The city appreciates the inconvenience experienced by its residents during construction of this project and would like to take this opportunity to thank Tracy residents and the neighboring businesses for their patience as we get closer to completing these much needed improvements to Grant Line Road.
