The Economic Development Department seeks to promote and pursue commercial, industrial, and office development within the City to create a diversified and sustainable economic base for the community. This base provides a stable tax revenue structure for the city as well as a full range of retail shopping, services, and employment opportunities for its residents. The department continues to market the city in order to attract new commercial developers and sales tax producing business. In addition, the department works closely with existing businesses to assist with retention and expansion opportunities in an effort to foster job growth in the community.
Oversight of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Housing program is also a function of the Economic Development Department.
