Vehicular Manslaughter - Tracy Municipal Airport

(Tracy, CA) – On Thursday evening, February 23, at about 11:40pm, the Tracy Police Department received a call stating a car had driven into the Delta Mendota Canal immediately West of Tracy Municipal Airport, and that one person was possibly trapped in the submerged vehicle.
The driver of the car and two of the three passengers escaped. The fourth occupant has not been located. The Tracy Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, American Medical Response (AMR) and the Lathrop/Manteca Fire Department Dive Team responded for assistance. The car, a late model BMW 328i, was pulled from the canal.
Thirty year-old Eric Rode Olsen of Tracy was arrested and will be booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on vehicular manslaughter charges. The name of the victim, a visitor from Europe, has not been released pending notification of the visitor’s consulate and family.
