Utilities

The Utilities Division operates and maintains the City’s potable water and wastewater treatment facilities. In addition, this division manages the City’s Storm Water Management Program, maintains the City’s traffic signals and street lights and provides support for electrical systems maintenance within all City facilities. The Utilities Division consists of the following sections:

John Jones Water Treatment Plant Operations & Maintenance

Operates the City’s Water Treatment Plant and well system to provide a water supply for the City. Maintains, repairs and replaces the mechanical and electrical plant equipment at the City’s Water Treatment Plant.

Water Distribution

Operates, maintains, and repairs the City's water distribution system, including water mains, service connections, valves and fire hydrants.

Water Meters

Reads, tests, repairs and replaces water meters on the City’s water system and provides water turn-on and turn-off services.

Water Wells Maintenance

Maintains and repairs the City's water wells and booster water pump stations.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations & Maintenance

Operates the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant to treat and dispose of the wastewater (sewage) collected from within the City. Maintains, repairs and replaces the mechanical and electrical plant equipment at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Wastewater Collection

Maintains and repairs the City’s sewer collection system, including servicing sewer mains and laterals.

Wastewater Lift Stations

Operates, maintains and repairs the City’s wastewater lift (pump) stations and provides safe sanitary services.

Storm Water Management

Develops, implements and enforces the City's Storm Water Management Program. The goal of this program is to reduce the amount of pollutants that enter our Storm Drain System.

Drainage Maintenance

Maintains and repairs the City’s storm drainage system including storm drains, catch basins, channels, ditches and ponds.

Utilities Laboratory

Provides laboratory and environmental control services for City utilities and other City departments.

Electrical Maintenance

Maintains and repairs the City's traffic signals and street lights. Provides support to building maintenance for electrical systems in City buildings.
