Accepting Applications For Youth Advisory CommissionPosted: Aug 22, 2011
(TRACY, CA) – Calling all youth in Tracy grades 9-12; make a difference in your community by joining the Youth Advisory Commission (YAC).
The Parks and Community Services Department is now accepting applications for YAC. The Commission will serve in an advisory capacity to the Youth & Teen Services staff, the Parks and Community Services Commission, the City Council and other groups on matters relating to teens in Tracy. YAC is a great way for teens to get involved, develop leadership skills, and take an active role in government.
Consider applying for YAC if you think you have what it takes to be a Youth Commissioner, or if you have some good ideas on how Tracy can be a better community for teens. The Commission meets regularly and participates in community projects outside of meetings, which takes the time commitment of each Commissioner to be an effective and productive part of the City of Tracy. Former Youth Advisory Commissioner, Laqshya Taneja states, “YAC is a commission of teens that help create activities and community service projects for teens in the City of Tracy. Being part of YAC gives you the chance to meet other teens that want to impact the community in a positive way.”
Teens that live in Tracy or attend a Tracy school in grades 9th – 12th are welcome to apply for YAC. Applications may be obtained at the Parks and Community Services Department, or online at www.ci.tracy.ca.us, click on government, boards and Commissions, Youth Advisory Commission. Deadline to submit an application is September 9. For more information call (209) 831-6200 or visit www.ci.tracy.ca.us.
