Tracy Police Awarded Alcohol Beverage Control GrantPosted: Aug 2, 2011
(Tracy, CA) – The Tracy Police Department was recently awarded $35,000 to address alcohol related issues within the city including sales of alcohol to underage children, to target establishments responsible for alcohol related crimes and to provide education to local businesses regarding the requirements associated with their on and off sale licenses. The Tracy Police Department will also receive additional training regarding alcohol related calls for service.
On Friday, July 29, agents from Alcohol and Beverage Control (ABC) along with officers of the Tracy Police Department conducted the first of several sting operations designed to reduce the sale of alcohol to minors. This decoy sting operation approached twenty eight establishments, five of which sold alcohol to a minor. The employees of those establishments received criminal citations for providing alcohol to minors and ABC will be initiating civil citation proceedings against the owners of the establishments.
Over the course of the next twelve months, the joint goal of ABC and the Tracy Police Department is to reduce alcohol related crimes such as driving under the influence, underage drinking at residential parties, adults purchasing alcohol for minors and minors purchasing their own alcohol.
