What is a Sign Permit?
As the name implies, a Sign Permit permits the installation of a sign. A Sign Permit is required for most types of signs. Questions related to Sign Permit requirements can be answered by a Planner in the City’s Development and Engineering Services Department.
| Step 1 | Submit ApplicationThe Sign Permit application form and the fee schedule are available on the City’s website and at the front counter of the Development and Engineering Services Department. The application form contains a checklist of information needed to review the permit application. A City Planner will assist you through the process. | 1-7 days (typical) | |

| Step 2 | City ReviewCity review includes review by both the Planning and Building Divisions. Typically, the application is first reviewed by the Planning Division and then by the Building Division. The applicant may be contacted at any point in the City review process with requests for additional information, clarification or revisions to the plans. Once the application is deemed complete and all requirements are met, City staff will approve the Sign Permit and notify the applicant that it’s ready to be issued (step 4). | 1-7 days (typical) | |
| Step 3 | Applicant ResponseSome projects require additional information or clarification by the applicant and/or revisions to the plans. This step is the applicant’s response to those requirements. The applicant’s response will be reviewed by the City and steps 2 and 3 may be repeated if necessary. | 1-7 days (typical) | |
| Step 4 | Sign Permit ApprovalOnce the application is deemed complete and all requirements are met, City staff will approve the Sign Permit and notify the applicant that it’s ready to be issued. | ||
